Core competencies
The history of Institute of Security Technologies MORATEX in Łódź dates back to 1953, when the Minister of Light
Industry issued his Decree No. 430 on the creation of Laboratory of Technical Textiles.
Institute of Security Technology MORATEX is a research institute supervised by the Minister of Internal Affairs and
Administration. Research and development works allowed development of modern structural and technological
solutions in the field of ballistic and impact protection, modern designs of textiles, specialized technical products,
personal protectors as well as modern technologies related to the recycling of materials and ballistic products.
Moreover Institute specializes in risk management methodology and in creating scenarios of the prevention-
detection-response-mitigation and creating basis for training for practitioners using ViR as well as humanitarian
demining activities (risk education).
The research and development works carried out are supported by general technical, standardization, certification,
inventions and investment activities. Currently, the Institute employs 60 employees, including 26 scientific
employees and employees employed in research and technical positions. Among the staff resources of the Institute
there are PRINCE2 certified project managers with appropriate skills related to planning, monitoring, management
and implementation of research and development projects, technological management and business competences.
MORATEX has 2 accredited research laboratories (Laboratory of Metrological Research and Laboratory of Ballistic
Research) and Laboratory of Chemical Research, enabling the implementation of scientific research and / or
development work.
