The EUROSENSE Group is one of the most prominent leaders of the European Geoinformatics market. The group exists since 1964 with its headquarters in Belgium. Actually the group has nine companies located in Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Germany, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Bulgaria and since 2004 in Romania.
The mission of the group is to acquire, process and serve geospatial information about the environment typically to Ministries, Regional Authorities, Municipalities, State Institutions and other commercial companies. The policy of EUROSENSE is to use always the most advanced technologies and to serve clients with the highest quality products.
EUROSENSE owns specialized aircrafts for airborne remote sensing and specially equipped vessels for bathymetric mapping of rivers, channels and seashores. Next to the airborne and seaborne data acquisition and processing EUROSENSE has professional capabilities to process and to analyze satellite imagery as well.
EUROSENSE has been part of several GMES projects to provide risk and security related information to respective local, regional and national authorities, using Earth Observation (EO) services and technologies and specifically in geo-spatial products to address users’ needs.
EUROSENSE is involved in a wide range of GMES services. Even before the so-called GMES, we constantly developed satellite derived services to support objectives of EC initiatives to respond to human security principles. The line of services related to urban land use/ land cover, change detection, soil sealing and urban environment have been initiated in the GMES/GUS first phase of GSE projects, then the GSE land (GMES Service Element-Land financed by ESA). Geoland 2 consortium aims at developing land operational products to better represent e.g. the urban
environment to support urban planners. The Security services, defined in the frame of the Global Monitoring for Security and Stability (GMOSS) Network of Excellence, were specified, developed and tested at the European level in the SABOCO (Satellites in Border Cooperation, ESA contract) and LIMES (Land /Sea Integrated Monitoring for European Security, EC FP6) projects and other that followed.
