The main fields of interest in security are cyber security, network security and digital forensics. In a number of previous projects we have performed various security tasks regrding high performance and distributed computing systems, storage systems, development of secure architectures and tools. WCSS leads the security task in Polish National Grid Infrastructure and extension project. Our duties, besides work coordination, are to perform infrastructure and software security audits, active vulnerability monitoring, penetration tests, develop security policies and tools, provide incident response and digital forensics. WCSS acts as CSIRT for Polish National Grid Initiative and is a member of EGI CSIRT. WCSS security team is also involved in PONIER CERT and TERENA TF-CSIRT (Trans-European Research and Education Networking Association).
One of our products, ACARM-NG (www.acarm.wcss.wroc.pl) is an alert correlation software module which can receive numerous alerts from local intrusion detection systems (IDS) placed within the network infrastructure and correlate them using specific filters. ACARM-NG is not an IDS itself; it is a higher level tool that can process alerts incoming from standard sensors, providing a bigger picture of the network security state to the administrator, while performing specific, predEFINED REACTIONS at the same time.
We have implemented several PKI systems for Polish Grid and NREN and developed specific polices and tools.
