Core competencies
Ernesto Salzano is Associate Professor at the University of Bologna from 2015.
Main research activities are related to the experimental and numerical analysis of fire and explosion, and to the analysis of risks of critical infrastructures derived from external events as natural disaster (Natural-Technological Interaction), domino effects and terrorist attacks, with specific reference to chemical risks (standard chemical industry, LNG terminals, flammable and toxic gas and liquid transportation), explosives, sabotages, and Security Risk and Vulnerability Assessment.

From 1995 to 2015 he has been a permanent researcher at the Italian National Research, Institute of Research on Combustion, where he has been in charge of the explosion laboratory and has led a project with ENI on the security of Italian refineries and storages.
